Stroke

A stroke and its aftermath usually involve severe impairment for those affected. Paralysis of large muscles, loss of speech, sight and reading problems are just a few of the serious problems that patients have to face.

How can Tomatis listening therapy help?

Tomatis listening therapy stimulates the various functions and abilities of people using different frequencies. These are shown in the listening test graph in three different zones of the body: Zone 1 (125 - 1000 Hz) gives indications about the body, Zone 2 (1000 - 3000 Hz) deals with the voice and speech ability as well as the ability to communicate, and Zone 3 (3000 - 8000 Hz) has to do with the person's will to live, among other things. By stimulating these three areas, listening therapy can make a very successful contribution to rehabilitating stroke victims.
As a rule, contact with the attending doctor is desired throughout the therapy. In order to use the listening therapy in a more targeted way, an EEG (Brain Mapping) is made in addition to the listening test, because depending on the seriousness of the disability, the approach is made slowly and with great care. This is to avoid overstimulation of the brain. The use of higher frequencies is limited to a maximum of 4000 Hz during listening therapy.
Most stroke victims profit from listening therapy. Depending on the seriousness of the disability and the motivation of the person affected, some impairments can be completely alleviated.
