Farewell of a good friend and Tomatis-therapist - Gerard von Hoorn Everybody surely remembers doctor Gerard Van Hoorn from Kaapstad, South-Africa, his wife Mada and their daughter doctor Susan Van Hoorn, who were present during the past two Congresses, despite of the large distance.
He always drew the attention, not only because of his posture, but also and especially because of his spontaneous enthusiasm for the therapy which he practiced in his country for five years, with a seldom seen perseverance.
As a human he was extremely prone to feelings and always oriented towards helping with love and a heart of gold.
Past winter he became ill with a terrible disease: Gerard got a braintumor, which was immediately removed. Unfortunately the doctors didn't give him much more time to live. This last prediction had sadly become true. Gerard passed away amungst his nearest family, the 21st of july at 2.30 at night.
We know that his loving wife Mada wants to keep his memory alive by continuing their Tomatis-center energetically.
We wish her and the entire family a lot of strength in these hard Tines.
Gerard will live on forever in our hearts.

Seminar on dyslexia

On Saturday 13th and 14th March Mozart-Brain-Lab hosted a seminar about dyslexia. 17 centers from France an one center from Spain participated in it. During the seminar new and old aspects were discussed highlighted by many examples. Towards the end practical exercises with special boards for speech-analysis and speech-synthesis were trained. This exercises should be used in all centers later on. However these media can only be used, if considerable improvements in the Audio-Psycho-Phonology-therapy were achieved and the ear-brain connection is very well trained.

Continuation of Alfred A. Tomatis' work

Professor Alfred Tomatis, French physician and Ear-Nose-and Throat specialist, has been a prolific pioneer in the study of auditory processing and language development for the past fifty years.

In 1953 he was able to put down a number of laws on which the Audio-Psycho-Phonology is based. This interdisciplinary method is used to train and improve the function of the ear. In 1998 Tomatis retired from his work and he asked Jozef Vervoort, his former pupil, to continue his work.

This Belgium educationalist, who has been working with the Tomatis method for over 30 years, founded a new foundation: Mozart- Brain Lab, next to his already existing Atlantis Centre. MBL is the European centre for training and research. It is responsible for training Tomatis consultants and also for scientific reseach and further development of the method.

All of professor Tomatis' inheritance, on which he founded his Audio-Psycho-Phonology, is accommodated in this institute.
