Information on the formation
“Audio-Psycho-Phonology according to
Prof. Tomatis” at Mozart-Brain-Lab
Jozef Vervoort, head of the training company Mozart-Brain-Lab, is the only one that was personally assigned by Prof. Tomatis to teach and supervise the “Audio-Psycho-Phonology according to Prof. Tomatis”. Mr. Vervoort also received all books and research documents of Prof. Tomatis with the aim to continue his work in the area of Audio-Psycho-Phonology.
The formation is offered primarily to physicians, psychologists, therapists (occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists etc.), but also to alternative practitioners and teachers. Other interested people may take part in the formation but do not receive a license, which is required for the execution of the A.P.P. and for the acquisition of the necessary equipment.
The formation is divided into a theoretical and into a practical part.
The formation is successfully terminated if the written exam at the end of the theoretical part was passed and the oral exam at the end of the practical part. After the passed exams you receive a certificate. In order to execute the method and for quality saving purposes you will have to sign the license contract of Mozart-Brain-Lab. The signature of the license contract automatically includes the membership in the Mozart-Brain-Lab Network for a yearly fee of 250 Euros.
We attach great importance to the prospective therapists having experienced the A.P.P. according to Prof. Tomatis themselves. Therefore you should have undergone the A.P.P.-method either before the formation or should undergo it during the formation.
The theoretical part
The theoretical part is broken down into 4 courses of a week (for non-European groups it is 3 weeks in a row). The course dates are fixed by Mozart-Brain-Lab; taking into account the interests of the participants, as far as possible. Each course week comprises 48 hours of class. The courses start on the first day at 10 am and on all other days at 9 am. The courses end respectively on Fridays at 5 pm. In total 192 hours of theoretical class have to be completed in the formation. The classes will be held at the Mozart-Brain-Lab in Sint Truiden, Belgium. Between the course weeks are breaks of several weeks in which the participants can revise the covered topics (not for non-European groups). After the fourth week (third week) will be a written exam.
All lecturers have several years of active experience with the A.P.P. according to Prof. Tomatis. Some are working with the method for over 30 years. The “youngest” member of the lecturer team of Mozart-Brain-Lab has 8 years experience.
The practical part
The practical part of the formation is also comprised of 4 weeks at 48 hours (3 weeks for non-European groups), so that it has the same length as the theoretical part. The dates for the practical part are not fixed by Mozart-Brain-Lab. The participants themselves have to agree on a date with the respective institute at which the practical part will be completed.
Mozart-Brain-Lab sets the following guidelines:
- One block of the practical formation should be no shorter than one work week (5 days). Depending on the actual situation of the participant, Mozart-Brain-Lab may agree to a differing arrangement. However the total amount of hours of the practical formation need to be reached.
- The practical part can be started earliest after the second theoretical week.
- The last practical week, the fourth (the third), can only be started when the theoretical part is completed.
- The first three weeks (two weeks) of the practical formation can be carried out at another institute that executes the A.P.P. according to Prof. Tomatis, than Mozart-Brain-Lab. However the institute needs to be accepted by Mozart-Brain-Lab and the supervisor needs to have a minimum of 2 years practical experience with the A.P.P. according to Prof. Tomatis.
- The fourth (the third) practical week of the formation has to be completed at the Mozart-Brain-Lab.
At the end of the fourth (the third) week of the practical formation an oral exam takes place.
